United Airlines Hemispheres Magazine App Reviews

This app is absolutely wonderful!! I am so glad United has made this app for their monthly magazine! But there is this one major problem, I am using this application in my iPhone and the problem I am having is that when I go to the "store" on this application and try to download the new issue, nothing shows up....not even the magazine its self!! So as of now, I cannot read the new issue or download it without going to the "live" section. So it would be great if you could fix this issue as soon as possible! :)

Was looking for in-flight information. Saw a beautiful article about Seoul, clicked on it and could never get back to the main menu. I have been using computers for 20 years and this particular apps interface was awful. Had to use Uniteds web site instead. Deleted the app.

As a frequent United Airlines flyer, I like that I can get this magazine on my iPad for those months when I am not traveling. I do miss David Carr, though, and I wish I could see the menu items and route maps.

Downloaded app to look at inflight entertainment options..... They are not included in this version of magazine. Uninstalled

I downloaded this app because I saw a couple recipes from the Chefs Corner section of the inflight magazine. I was hoping to view it later on my iPad when I got home. Nope, Chefs Corner is not printed in the iPad version of Hemispheres Magazine. I hope that the editor will consider it for future publications.

Contents take too much for download, and also to open. Cannot open files. This is bad.

Downloaded many issues. Finished most recent issue and wanted to read others. I can open issue but it immediately closes back to newsstand. Would be a wonderful app if fixed.

Honestly disappoint......... I think some pages on this app was taking with a camera and put here.... Lol Some pages have retina display and some NOT!!! Some pages are not fit in the screen vertical or horizontal is really annoying........supposed to fit on any direction. This app really need be fix it ASAP !!!!!! I erase already because is not worth it i will come in 2 months if I see good reviews and re download again. Thank You and Bye.

Regression: There is no way to navigate back to Library from a magazine.

Once you download an issue and star to read it there is no way to get back to the store or library. The buttons do not function. You can only go to help or live. Very disappointing.

Unlike every other e-magazine out there, with this one its impossible to download updates. Very frustrating.

Its so incredibly unintuitive how this app works once youre reading an issue in portrait mode. I mean....wow. I spent five minutes trying to figure out how to get back to the collection of issues screen. I even closed the app from the background because I couldnt figure it out. Ive NEVER had this happen to me with any other magazine or book app and I read tons of things on my iPad. I must have 20 different magazines and ereaders on here and never had an issue like this. Turns out you have to tap and hold to bring up the menu! Thats not used in ANY other iOS app Ive ever seen so the developers of this should be fired or they should read a book on UX. I felt so angered by this bad user experience that I just had to rant about it here in hopes that someone at the company will read this and hire a competent mobile development team. Oh, and to make this even worse I just noticed that you not only have users swiping from page to page but also up and down to access content?? WHY?? Its so hard to tell if thats the only content on the page or if there is more. Sure, theres a little down arrow, but little is the key word. Why make it look like your content is finished if theres more down below? Give visual cues that theres more on the page by letting part of the text and images be cut off at the fold! Argghh. I would put money on it that you had a team of Indians create your apps.

Doesnt have a menu to enable access to the issues. Other magazines do.

I like this app a lot. Excellent mixture of content, both written and video makes this an outstanding travel magazine. Works flawlessly, clearly a lot of work and thought went into the design.

Really bad app since it does not let you download more than 1 issue.

App is easy to use and navigate. Images were sharp and print easier to read using my iPad versus the printed magazine. Especially liked the zoom feature on the "route map". Thanks United Hemisphere.

Whoever wrote this app has NO understanding of how apps work. It is really too bad because United has some great content. Just read any of their magazines in their planes. But WHO has been able to figure out how to pull up the menu? Where are the instructions? I have many other in flight magazines and they all work seamlessly. Perhaps the app developers can learn a lesson or four from the Cathay Pacific inflight iPad app. Great content but the delivery is horrible. Go ahead and download the app and give it try. Good luck trying to read a different issue unless you know beforehand that you need to tap and hold. Tap and Hold.

Hemispheres is the best of the U.S. airlines magazines.

Im glad that I came to read the comments here. I was getting really frustrated using this app in portrait mode. Thanks to the other review which explained that I needed to tap and hold. Totally not intuitive, and I second your rant. Furthermore, the magazine is all pixelated since it doesnt support retina screens. Really? We have had retina iPads for a few years now. Please support them with retina content!
